Developers reportsReports from our developers. How we are working to improve our program. How we are testing it. Report #2 (03/05/2005)Works at 2.6.8 Beta builds 172. Searching queries and Query Builder. Why we are doing that?Data searching is one of the most used operations with CD catalog. Previous version of CD Bank has the lot of searching conditions - by file name, size, type, disk location etc. All of them are serving to specifying the search results. But, you had no way to combine the conditions easily or type excluding criteria's. First time announced searching queries is a powerful and flexible way to searching data. It's similar to internet search engine queries, and takes you to the new level of catalog management. Search by file nameFor example, you have the music collection in your CD Bank catalog, and want to find the "The Long And Winding Road" song. Previously you have only one way - type something like winding in "File name fragment" field, check the "Music" box, and get the hundreds of files, like "Winding.wav", "WinDingDon.mp3" etc. Now you can type the familiar query, view the result, specify query to exclude unnecessary items and reduce the result size to few.
Each element can be a text string or file mask (*.ex?). All elements can be combining, except one - "Exact phrase" is dominant, and should be using as exclusive. Query BuilderQuery Builder called from Search window and allows you to build the search query more easily. ResultsNow CD Bank can carry out the searching task by new, outstanding way! On Beta-test page you can download the latest Beta version with all of the new features. |
